Study Shows: Sip Some Tea and Lose Six Pounds



Tea may help you lose weight. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that people who drank four cups of green tea a day shed more than six pounds in eight weeks. Scientists speculate this may be caused by increase in metabolism brought about by EGCG — a potent antioxidant that’s abundant in tea.

Interestingly, theanine (an amino acid), caffeine, and perhaps other components in green tea powder (matcha) have also been shown to suppress weight gain and fat accumulation in laboratory mice.
